Underlining Text

Step-by-Step Directions

1. Select the text you want to underline.

2. Do one of the following:

• On the Format menu, select Font.

• Click the Font button on the Format toolbar:

• Press F2.

To format your text using standard HTML tags:

1. In the Format Font dialog, navigate to [Font Tags]

2. In the Tag Effects window, tick the Underline check box.

3. Click OK to save the changes.

To format your text using inline styles:

1. In the Format Font dialog, navigate to [Inline Styles][Font].

2. In the Inline Font Styles window, click the Underline button:

3. Click OK to save the changes.

You can also use the other Styles... button options to specify other "decoration" styles to the text. The different options are defined below.

Clicking on this button underlines the text.

Clicking on this button causes the text to blink.

Clicking on this button strikes out the text.

Clicking on this button overlines the text.

Clicking on this button specifies that there is to be no text decoration.

 

NOTES

If you want to change text that is already formatted, make sure to highlight the format tags as well (eg, <SPAN>, <FONT>, <B> etc). A full discussion of the relative advantages and disadvantages of using HTML or inline styles for formatting is provided here.
